Announcement Major Site Maintenance

If all goes as planned, we will be shutting down the forum around 12PM tomorrow, and starting the actual maintenance between 12PM-2PM. You can see it in your timezone here: Every Time Zone Converter

Starting either sometime tomorrow, or sometime Saturday we will be undergoing major site maintenance. This maintenance can take a few hours, but may take up to 24-48 depending on how much work is needed.

This update will be bringing a lot of changes in appearance and functionality to the site, and there will be more coming throughout 2021. Below are a few things that will be coming:

New design with a dark and light version (dark version will be primary option)
New ticket and knowledgebase system
- It's difficult for people to find information for commonly asked questions and bug fixes, so this should help to resolve some of the problem.
- The ticket system will allow us to escalate a bug report to a ticket, as well as allow people to submit actual private reports or ask for help. This has mostly been done through PM or Discord.
New integrated calendar
- We will be integrating the spawn calendar into this system later on.
New and improved account management, registration and currency purchasing system
New onboarding system
- This matters more for new members, as it sets tasks to complete account setup and gives progression based on the tasks completed.
New award system, though this will mostly be rolling out over time. This will likely be expanded upon over time.
Better Discord integration
Further increase in security and options for additional 2-Factor Authentication methods (Yubikey is ).
New Avatar Gallery, where you can choose to use pre-made avatars by artists on the network
- Currently we are focusing on Dragon's Prophet, as it has the largest number of potential avatars. @Vipera has currently done all of the stonerock model avatars, and will do more as she has time between the other slave labor I have for her.
- We also may be moving to a custom avatar gallery system later on, however that is more for me than for players as it'll make management and functionality better.
New reaction system that replaces the like functionality on content.

Most of these will be ready as soon as we finish the upgrade, though some will come in the following weeks.

There are a lot of features or changes that are planned, but it will still be a few weeks to month before we can complete them. Some are also a bit further off into the future:

New shop and checkout system
- This new system will allow checkouts without having to buy Platinum, relegating Platinum to a tradable resource.
Searchable Database similar to WoWHead (World of Warcraft: Shadowlands News)
- This will basically be our replacement for the existing Wiki; it allows us a way to display more data-centric information in a cleaner format, to create better relations between objects and to overall just offer a better way of searching for information. The plan is to make a system that can be used for all games offered on the network, and for future projects.
Mollie payments (once we're accepted).
Trade tracking and rating system.

There are a lot more things that we will want to get done, but most of them are dependent on space income, and also on space time.

No, event should be done as scheduled. This will only affect anything on the website, like registering, purchasing Diamonds, and redeeming Diamonds. While the forum is shut down, it'll be impossible for anyone to do anything.

The site looks awful. Very uncomfortable and incomprehensible. Not convenient to use, it looks scary. I want to quit playing games at the sight of all this. In addition, I was forced to change my password to a long and inconvenient one.

With the update to the site we have also added more security functionality, which I will be posting about in an announcement later. Part of why we are requiring stricter password policies is we have had instances where players have had their accounts accessed, or have had attempts to be accessed by someone other than themselves. If someone gains access to your network account, they then have access to everything on your DP accounts.

As far as the design goes, there is a dark and a light version, though I need to work on both as I have free time. If it is the layout you dislike, the only real change is the placement of the navigation, and this was mostly done because of limitations with horizontal navigations and space constraints. There are plans to add additional features in the future that will require being added to the navigation; if we are packing a ton of navigation links in a horizontal space it is going to cause more issues than it being vertical.

The only real changes design wise are the navigation, and the color scheme/layout. So give me some constructive feedback, and I can see which to offer.

It is not convenient, for example, that I cannot see the amount of my credits when I visit the site. You have to dig into the tabs. The site loads literally everything very slowly.

Platinum and credits are displayed under the "shop" tab, under your account dropdown (top right), on the main forum page and also on any shop page. Previously I made the sidebar available on every page on the website, however the updated software has more nuance to how sidebars are done, and I will need to go over and choose how and when the sidebar is displayed on each page to optimize the layout as much as possible.

I considered making the sidebar available on all pages and still may, but it requires balancing with each individual page layout and I did not want to add another day to updating the website.

The site shouldn't be slow in the slightest; every render test I've done shows that it loads in around ~0.1200 seconds or less. If anything it would load faster than the old site. You may want to clear your browser cache or do a speed check to see if your internet is slow.

Strange, the previous version of the site worked fine with my "slow internet". But okay, so be it.

The old site had a lot more images, and a lot more files that load in the background; each of those fetch requests for a file adds additional load time. Now, the current site has a lot less requests.

My point about your internet being slow isn't necessarily you having slow internet, but there may be a complication with your connection to the site in general. It could also be a caching issue, an issue with your browser and loading a specific file or two or any number of things. If we can track down the issue I can tell you how to resolve it, or I can look at fixing it on our end to resolve it. Certain pages may be slower; for registration and redemption pages it is going to be slower as you are sending out a connection to the remote servers.

On the bottom of the web page there is a link that says "AdeptGamer (Dark)" or "AdeptGamer (Light)"; click that and it'll bring up style options.

I will be re-working the light to be less blinding, and also potentially make a more neutral color option.

I've made a change so that navigation sub-menus will automatically open upon clicking the main tab. I will likely have to edit down sub-navigation on some items, but let me know if this is more usable for you.

I've also changed the password requirements, however I still recommend people use 16 character alphanumeric passwords at the very least, and also using 2FA. The moment someone gains access to your network account, they literally have full access to your game accounts. They can reset your password, and can even access any platinum or Diamond packages that you have unused.

Ich finde diese Seite nicht schlecht , sie hebt sich endlich - entsprechend dem Game - von anderen 0815-Seiten ab ^^
Vor allem merkt man , das ein riesiges Potenzial in dieser Seite steckt ^^ Alles ist da wo man es vermuten kann , sie ist selbsterklährend und auch Leien kommen ziemlich schnell und gut zurecht - und das ist ja wohl am wichtigsten !
Sicher ist die Handhabung erstmal sehr ungewohnt und viele werden denken = "...ach wie umständlich..." aber das ist nicht so !
Viel mehr Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten , viel bessere Einstellungen sollten doch jedem entgegen kommen ^^
Bestimmt wird es noch die eine oder andere Verbesserungmöglichkeit geben aber das haben "junge" Seiten immer an sich ^^

Also Seiichi alles zusammen genommen habt ihr eine wirklich gute Seite gestaltet , meinen Dank dafür

This is why we have chosen to do a side navigation; it is much messier and unfriendly to have a navigation where you have to click to load overflow items, or click button to scroll for overflow items.

There is a small learning curve, but overall it is more usable in the way the site is now, than it would be otherwise.

The design isn't actually done by me, just some customization here and there. I may eventually do our own design, or have someone else do one (I barely have time to sleep currently), but that would be when we have more people on staff so I can shed off some of my responsibilities.

For people who have a hard time with the site, if you tell me where you are having difficulty I will try my best to make adjustments to either the main theme, or look at making an optional theme.

You may need to click "Save As" after right clicking it.
